beyond the biblr pic
The bible was given to us by God to be used for everything. To hear His voice, to navigate through issues, to receive advice, as a whole it’s easy to say the bible is a guide to how to live life. The bible is also a window into the past, it allows us to relive miracles and the wonders Jesus performed on earth, but these miracles didn’t stop here. Till this very day, Jesus is still at work.   “In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” – ‭‭John‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭NIV‬‬   Jesus never stopped working then and he hasn’t stopped yet. The works he did on God’s behalf in the bible He’s doing now for you. I know, it’s hard to fathom in today’s world a blind man coming to see, a dead man being brought back to life, and a man bound to a wheelchair given the miracle to walk, but in reality, all of these miracles are actively being performed each day, just look around. Your relative wasn’t healed from cancer because of the treatment alone. It was Jesus who sent the doctors, it was Jesus who made a way when there was no way. Your parent or child didn’t decide to redirect their lives because of one moment. It was Jesus who put them in the right place at the right time. It was Jesus working from the inside out. It was Jesus who told you to get up and walk from that addiction. It was Jesus who brought light to your darkest times. IT WAS JESUS! It’s always been Jesus. ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:11‬ says “Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.”‬ God will always use people and places, situations and circumstances, the good and the bad to work out His perfect plan. God even works through you and me as He works in us.    “God is working in you. He wants your plans and your acts to fulfill his good purpose.” – ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭NIRV‬‬   Now, this is only for Christ-followers, you can be a Christian and not a follower of Christ. I say this because God can’t and will not use you to fulfill His purpose if you’re not fully surrendered to Him. Jesus has work to do, He wants to work through you but if you’re not ready to be used He will choose the next willing open vessel. God is a gentle God, He won’t force you to do His work you must be willing. Once you have chosen to follow Christ full-heartily this is when the work begins. God calls us to minister to people and nations, Matthew 28:19-20 says “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Jesus gave these orders to His eleven disciples and He’s giving us the same orders today. To be honest this sounds absurd! How are you and I supposed to make new disciples? On top of this, how are going to teach them? Well, it’s easy, we can do this, and a whole lot more because of the last thing Jesus said, “And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of age”. I understand questioning this command, but your questions have to come to an end once you realize Jesus is with you. You have the authority to cast out demons. You have the strength to get through hardships. You have the power to speak life and death. All because Jesus is with you. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬   His works didn’t stop in the bible. To read these accounts and take them as only stories would deprive us of life. Next time you dwell in the word take it with you. Use the words Jesus said as a weapon against the enemy. Use the wonders Christ did as hope that He can do the same for you. Look at the way Jesus lived and live accordingly. The word is alive, it is active, all we have to do is activate it in our lives.
