The devil, along with all the evils of this world will try everything to harm you, but God has given us authority! In Luke chapter 10 Jesus sends out 72 men to drive out demons, heal the sick, and to tell people about God’s kingdom. The 72 men return in verse 17 with joy saying “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” Jesus replies “I saw Satan fall like lighting from heaven. I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” (Luke 10:17-18).

Research shows the meaning of the number 72 is in fact the face of God. Jesus rose from the grave on the third day (72nd hour), “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:3-4‬. Jonah spent 72 hours in the belly of a whale, “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”– ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:40‬. On the third day (72nd hour) of their travel, Abraham took Isaac up the mountain where he was planning to sacrifice him but ultimately it was a test from God “Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭22:3-4‬. Multiple stories in the bible involving God and his presence often happened on the third day or the 72nd hour.

When Jesus sent out 72 men in this story, it was for people and demons to see the face of God, to feel his presence. The reason we have authority over our demons, over our enemies, is not because of who we are naturally, but it’s because of who we’re with, it’s because of our father. The enemy sees God inside of you, this is why you have authority, this why you have power over every evil thing in this world. As soon as you utter the name of Jesus in the presence of your enemy he becomes powerless. We have to start looking into the face of evil; tell him who your with, who you serve, and tell him about the Holy Spirit that’s on the inside of you! Then proceed to trample over every evil that gets in your way.
