A present is presented to you. You didn’t deserve it at all yet this is a gift from them to you. They did everything to get you this gift and you come to find out it’s something you’ve always wanted! After receiving it everything changes, until you begin to drift from it. Because you didn’t do more with the gift you didn’t see all it came with, the additional gifts inside you never received. This ladies and gentlemen is what we do with our salvation and the promises of God that follow.

“And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”– 2 Peter‬ 1:4‬ NLT‬‬

Throughout the Bible, God makes over 7,000 promises! All to which you have access to because you decided to receive salvation. Yet too often this is how far we go. We accept that Jesus died on the cross for our sins but we do nothing more. We feel good for a moment then go back to our regular life. Some might even go back to the habits of their old life when the reason for salvation was to give you a new one. There’s more to your decision. The step you took to invite Christ into your heart not only opened the door for Jesus to have a way in you, but it also opened the door to 7,000 promises. Promises that unlock the Holy Spirit which dwells in you. Promises that give you authority to break bondages of lust, depression, anxiety, and doubt. Whatever it may be God has a promise for you but you must live a changed life.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promises, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter‬ 3:9‬ NIV‬‬

God wants the best for you! He’ll wait for you to step into this life he has called you to. A life where his promises are available for you. Don’t get frustrated in waiting for his promises to come to pass when you haven’t begun to live a changed life. You aren’t waiting for him, he is waiting for you! Yet he isn’t impatient, God is standing beside you, going everywhere you’re going, waiting patiently. Once you repent and open that door to a new life, God is there to embrace you, to offer you the good things he has for your future. It’s your job to accept them and do what must be done to receive these promises. Accept salvation but don’t stop there! Love your neighbor as yourself, in everything you do, do it for the glory of God, give generously, speak life into this world, and focus on the things above where Christ is seated! Go live a changed life. A word of assurance, God will never and has never told a lie, he will keep all his promises.

“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”– Numbers‬ 23:19‬ NIV‬‬

God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. It doesn’t matter what your past looks like or what you have done before you stepped into salvation. Because of Jesus at the cross, our sins have been washed clean. You qualify for a multitude of promises, ones that he will keep if you do what it takes to receive them. God isn’t like us when someone does us wrong. He doesn’t blast us on social media, he doesn’t plot for revenge, he doesn’t end our relationship and cut us off. If this is the God you know we don’t serve the same God. The God I know already made up his mind about you. He set those promises for you to have them. He sent his only son to become sin and die for our actions. He leaves the 99 to run after you, after time, and time again you showed you don’t deserve his grace, he is still standing there waiting to give you his unconditional love. A love so powerful you couldn’t earn it. That is the God I know. A man that should never lie nor change his mind, my God is a promise keeper. Some of us fail to realize that is the God we serve. As we come to an end let’s take a look at some of the promises of God.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua‬ 1:9‬ NIV

“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”Isaiah‬ 41:13‬ NIV‬‬

“If you return to the Lord, then your fellow Israelites and your children will be shown compassion by their captors and will return to this land, for the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.” 2 Chronicles‬ 30:9‬ NIV‬

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy‬ 31:6‬ NIV‬‬

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James‬ 1:5‬ NIV‬‬

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans‬ 8:38-39‬ NIV‬‬

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you” 1 Peter‬ 1:3-4‬ NIV‬

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John‬ 3:16‬ NIV
